Job Description:
The role involves providing standard software and hardware support services, as well as monitoring and maintaining various information systems, to ensure the efficient delivery of IT services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform system and equipment maintenance tasks, such as backing up data and ensuring system protection, to maintain effective operations and user efficiency.
- Conduct basic monitoring and troubleshooting of server systems to ensure consistent IT service delivery for staff.
- Address basic queries regarding technology and systems to facilitate proper usage of IT resources.
- Inspect incoming IT assets, report any discrepancies in inventory, and assist in tracking materials effectively.
- Support the rollout of new versions of centrally managed software by performing basic beta testing to ensure operational functionality for WFP staff.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in inventories, databases, websites, and archives to assist senior officers in managing these systems.
- Compile information for use in standard materials such as training documentation and web content under the guidance of senior colleagues
Project Management, Planning, and Optimization
- Technical Expertise: Possesses a comprehensive understanding of technical aspects within their role, applying this knowledge systematically to analyze customer technical issues and provide insightful advice and effective solutions.

Service Management: Adheres to established service excellence standards and protocols, ensuring high-quality delivery and consistently maintaining customer satisfaction within their area of expertise.

Client Management: Demonstrates proficiency in managing hardware, software, servers, and networks to address routine user issues efficiently by utilizing WFP’s defined processes and tools.

Procurement and Contract Management: Supports the technology selection process by gathering and organizing vendor and product information for evaluation against predefined criteria.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE:

Academic or Professional Background: Proven experience or academic qualifications in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- IT Support Experience: Hands-on experience resolving Level 1 IT issues effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education:
A first degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a relevant field. -
Language:
- For General Service (Field): Proficiency in both oral and written communication in the UN language used at the duty station.
- Fluency in the local language of the duty station, if different, is also required.
